Crochet a Rug

This is a resource page for all of my wonderful students. Making rugs using scrap fabric is a fairly time honored frugal activity. I don't want to reinvent the wheel so ... here are some links to help you remember what you learned in class.

A Pattern to help you along
During class we realized the pattern I used for all of my rug is a bit too intuitive for beginners and I was lucky enough to have a student with more circular know how and she shared a formula for making flat circles, that is brilliant and easy to remember.
sl sp= Slip Stitch
ch: Chain
sc= Single Crochet
st: stitch(es)

Make a Slip Knot
1. Chain 3
2. Join the ring with a sl st, ch 1 and then sc x6x into the ring, join the circle with a sl st.
3. ch 1, (It may be useful at this stage to start marking the beginning of your round with a marker). sc 2x into each st, then join with a sl st - Move you marker
4. ch 1, *sc into 2 st, sc 2x into one stitch* ** rep to end, join with sl st - Move marker
5. ch 1, *sc into 3 st, sc 2x into one stitch* ** rep to end, join with sl st - Move marker
Now begin working in the round (no more ch at beg of row and no more sl st)

*sc into 4 st, sc 2x into one stitch** rep to end - Move marker
*sc into 5 st, sc 2x into one stitch** rep to end - Move marker
*sc into 6 st, sc 2x into one stitch** rep to end - Move marker
*sc into 7 st, sc 2x into one stitch** rep to end - Move marker

for the rest of the rug you will add another sc before you do 2x sc in one stitch
